Mainville, joined the Cubs in 2012 after spending the previous two seasons as the major league assistant athletic trainer for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Prior to being named to the big league staff, he served as Arizona’s minor league training coordinator from 2007-10. Mainville has 15 years of athletic training experience in professional baseball, including six with the Diamondbacks and nine in the Baltimore Orioles minor league system.
While in the Orioles organization, Mainville served as head athletic trainer for Triple-A Ottawa (2004-06), Double-A Bowie (2001-03), Single-A Frederick (2000), Single-A Delmarva (1999) and Rookie League Bluefield (1998). He was also an undergraduate intern for the Orioles from 1996-97 while attending East Carolina University. Mainville graduated from East Carolina University in 1997 and received a Masters of Science Degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2005. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS).
